Skillbond becomes TRUMPF’s UK dental 3D printer reseller, enhancing its digital manufacturing capabilities for dental labs.

Skillbond Strengthens Dental 3D Printing Capabilities

Skillbond Direct Ltd, a UK based dental laboratory, has now moved into additive manufacturing with the reseller agreement with TRUMPF covering the sale of the TruPrint 1000 3D printing systems. This agreement, limited to Skillbond’s dental division in the United Kingdom, also facilitates their plans to manufacture cobalt-chrome removable partial dentures (RPDs) which possess a greater longevity than acrylic prosthetic dentures.

Skillbond began in Johannesburg and is now a part of Argen Digital, with locations in High Wycombe and 70 employees. The corporation focuses in CADCAM software, CNC milling and selective laser melting of dental restorations. Khanjan Langalia, the Technical Manager for Skillbond’s UK branch, reaffirmed the TruPrint 1000’s ability to meet critical demands for speed, surface quality, and part volume. “After evaluating multiple options, TRUMPF’s system stood out for its performance and compact design,” Langalia stated.

TRUMPF TruPrint 1000: A Game-Changer for Dental Labs

The TruPrint 1000 features dual 200 W fiber lasers, exposure speeds of up to 2 m/s, and build rates of 10–50 cm³/h. Its compact size allows easy installation, while automatic substrate plate changing and optimized gas flow ensure consistent output. Langalia praised the printer’s “exceptional” part quality, noting that Skillbond now produces multiple RPDs daily.

Beyond in-house use, Skillbond will distribute TRUMPF’s systems to UK dental labs, offering hands-on demonstrations and technical support. “Customers can see the machines in action, backed by our team of dental technicians and engineers,” Langalia explained. The company anticipates strong interest at the Dental Technology Show (DTS25) in Birmingham this May.

The agreement reflects a growing trend of localized 3D printing distribution, as seen with Sicnova in Spain and GoEngineer in North America. TRUMPF, a global leader in industrial laser technology, will handle non-UK inquiries directly. For Skillbond, the partnership solidifies its role as a key player in advancing dental additive manufacturing.
