Strategic partnership aims to strengthen domestic advanced manufacturing with specialized metal powders for critical applications.

Velo3D and Amaero launched a five-year exclusive partnership Tuesday to supply advanced materials for 3D printed components used in extreme conditions.

The agreement calls for Amaero to provide Velo3D with Niobium C103 and other refractory alloy powders, including Molybdenum, Tantalum, Tungsten, and Zirconium. Amaero will also serve as a preferred supplier for titanium alloy powders.

Amaero is expected to generate approximately $22 million in revenue from C103 and titanium powder sales during the agreement term, though actual figures may vary based on Velo3D’s production needs.

Velo-3D will exclusively use Amaero’s powders for its 3D printing production, including its Rapid Production Solutions initiative. The company will dedicate specialized machines to this production.

The partnership enables Velo3D to qualify Amaero’s spherical powders and develop exclusive print parameters for use on Velo3D Sapphire printers. This includes integrating C103 and refractory alloy powders into new machine sales.

Velo3D CEO Dr Arun Jeldi highlighted the role of the agreement in backing U.S. growth on the manufacturing front, as the company’s company own print parameters constitute an integral piece of the puzzle. The partnership enhances Velo3D’s presence in the metal 3D printing space, especially in high-value manufacturing for mission-critical markets.

Hank J. Holland, Chairman and CEO of Amaero, noted the company’s goal of reducing supply chain weaknesses domestically. Amaero intends to invest c. A$72mn by FY26 to ramp up its production capabilities with the targeting of commissioning state of the art atomisers for high quality refractory and titanium alloy powders.

The partnership is notable in that it advances U.S.-based manufacturing and additive manufacturing technologies, and consolidates both companies at the leading edge of the shifting 3D printing market.
