Prusa launches cloud-based EasyPrint application for simplified 3D printing from mobile devices and laptops.
Prusa Research launched EasyPrint on Friday, a web-based application that allows users to slice 3D models directly from phones, tablets and laptops.
The new cloud-based platform simplifies the 3D printing process by automatically detecting connected printers via PrusaConnect and applying appropriate slicing profiles before printing.
EasyPrint bypasses traditional configuration steps, enabling users to find models on Printables, access 3D previews with a single click, and verify printer and material status before sending print jobs.
Josef Pruša addressed concerns about cloud dependency, emphasizing that EasyPrint is an optional tool that generates 3MF files compatible with modern slicers. The cloud approach was chosen due to memory and processing limitations of mobile devices.
Current limitations include support for only one job at a time and restrictions on model size and detail. Prusa Research plans improvements including cloud storage and sharing features.
Access to EasyPrint is currently available through an invite-based system, with users who already have access able to invite others. Prusa also shared a form for 100 additional users to join using Printables handles as identifiers.
The move toward cloud integration reflects a broader industry trend, with services like Prusa Connect, RaiseCloud, and platforms from other manufacturers offering remote management tools for 3D printing.
