Chinese manufacturer ZRapid expands to Europe with industrial metal 3D printing solutions as global market approaches $8B by 2029.

Chinese manufacturer ZRapid introduced its iSLM range of metal 3D printers to European markets Friday, establishing a support network and demonstration center in Athens, Greece.

The expansion comes amid projections showing the metal additive manufacturing market will reach $8 billion by 2029, with Europe expected to be the second-largest market behind America.

Incorporating Japanese and South Korean 3D printer markets, along with the rest of Europe and East Asia is ZRapid’s goal. Founded in 2011, ZRapid has already set up over 5,500 industrial 3D printers in China, in addition to operating in 40 other countries.

Alongside other printers they offer, ZRapid has the iSLM printer series which contains models customized for particular requirements. The iSLM160, iSLM280, iSLM350D, and iSLM420D have the highest prominence and they each differ in volume of printing. Also ZRapid has the bigger iSLM600QN for industrial machining of large pieces, which has a configurational option of ten lasers for extreme productivity needs.

An upcoming model, the iSLM250DH, will feature dual high-temperature heating systems designed for processing high-performance alloys including tungsten and tool steels.

The company’s metal 3D printing solutions target various industries including research, automotive, aerospace, and medical sectors. The iSLM160, equipped with a BVR module to reduce build volume, is specifically marketed toward research institutes and universities for testing new materials.

ZRapid’s European operations will operate under the ZRapid Europe and ANiMA brands, with headquarters in Greece providing local support, warehousing, and demonstration facilities in Athens.

The expansion follows industry forecasts from AMPOWER valuing the current metal additive manufacturing market at $3.4 billion with projected annual growth of 18.5% through 2029.
