Educational initiative aims to help plastics professionals adopt additive manufacturing technologies.
The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing Chapter is working to promote plastic 3D printing adoption through education and industry events.
The specialized chapter was formed to help plastics industry professionals understand and implement additive manufacturing technologies in their workflows.
Jay Dinsmore, current Chair of the chapter, highlighted SPE’s extensive reach with over 60,000 stakeholders in more than 84 countries since its founding in 1942.
“Our objective is to provide a bridge between traditional manufacturing and additive manufacturing practitioners,” said Dinsmore.
According to Tuan Tranpham, President of the Americas and Asia Pacific for Anisoprint and chapter member, even experienced plastics experts often lack awareness of 3D printing benefits, while additive manufacturing specialists can learn from traditional plastics knowledge.
The chapter organizes industry events, which Krysten Minnici, the chapter’s treasurer, described as “incredible opportunities” to learn from other professionals.
Upcoming educational activities will partner with the ImplementAM initiative to teach plastics professionals how to integrate additive manufacturing into business operations.
