Anycubic prepares to launch improved Kobra 3 V2 after disappointing original model faced widespread criticism.

Anycubic Addresses Previous Model’s Shortcomings

Anycubic’s Kobra 3 V2 is set to launch on May 15, promising significant improvements after the original model fell short of user expectations.

The company has been providing details about the new version before its release, admitting that the first Kobra 3 model was rushed and did not deliver. Anycubic says that they listened to user complaints and used that info to address many of the V1’s performance and stability issues, and ended up making a deep revamp to the V2 design using this information.

The leaky hotends were one of the major problems with the earlier model that early adopters found especially annoying. As per Anycubic, the V2 will be carrying the same nozzle system that has been incorporated in the Kobra S1, which will cut down on leakage by a large margin and improve reliability in extrusion.

The biggest disappointment with the original Kobra 3 was its advertised but never delivered 8-color filament flexibility. Anycubic had promised an official converter but instead relied on a temporary community-developed solution that users had to implement at their own risk. As of May 2025, the official converter still hasn’t been released for the original model.

For the V2, Anycubic guarantees 8-color printing capability will be available out of the box. Additional improvements include a factory-installed 720p camera for print monitoring, increased build volume (now 255 × 255 × 260 mm, up from 250 × 250 × 260 mm), upgraded X-axis bearings, and a wider Y-axis base for improved bed stability.

Pricing details have not yet been announced. Starting May 15, Anycubic will begin a presale campaign structured in four phases through June 16, using terminology similar to crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter, including “early bird” offers.

The Kobra 3 V2 faces significant pressure to perform well upon release and address the shortcomings of its predecessor. 3D printing enthusiasts are watching closely to see if Anycubic can restore confidence in its Kobra product line.
