AML3D signs A$0.83M BAE Systems contract, driving global defense expansion and advanced 3D printing innovation.

Australian 3D printing innovator AML3D Limited has forged a groundbreaking contract worth A$0.83 million with global aerospace manufacturer BAE Systems to provide NAB wire feedstock amounting to 8.5 tonnes. The deal highlights AML3D’s NAC strategy concerning advanced manufacturing for the U.K. and Australian defense industries, capitalizing on its recent foray into the U.S. market.

The deal follows over a year of collaboration between the two firms and signals the start of a broader partnership. “This initial contract with BAE Systems is just the first step. We anticipate announcing additional orders as we deepen our engagement with allied defense markets,” said AML3D CEO Sean Ebert. The company is capitalizing on surging demand linked to the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Industrial Base initiative, aiming to replicate its U.S. success in the U.K. and Australia.

AML3D’s growth strategy includes scaling operations through key defense and industrial contracts. In 2024, U.S. clients accounted for 80% of its sales, driven by deals like a A$2.27 million contract with the Tennessee Valley Authority for critical infrastructure components. The firm also bolstered its U.S. presence with a dedicated Technology Centre and delivered ARCEMY systems to major defense suppliers to alleviate supply chain bottlenecks.

Backed by a A$30 million institutional placement in late 2024, AML3D plans to establish a European Technology Centre and accelerate R&D. Recent milestones include producing prototype Copper-Nickel alloy parts for the AUKUS Virginia-Class submarine program in just five weeks—a fraction of traditional manufacturing timelines.
