Elegoo enters the Core-XY 3D printer market with their feature-packed Centauri Carbon, combining industrial capabilities with consumer accessibility.

Elegoo, a prominent player in smart manufacturing, is shaking up the 3D printing landscape with its first Core-XY printer, the Centauri Carbon. Unlike your typical entry-level 3D printer, this isn’t just another addition to the market – it’s a statement about where consumer 3D printing is headed.

The Centauri Carbon stands out with its space-gray metal design and fully enclosed die-cast frame, but what’s really turning heads is its performance capabilities. With printing speeds reaching 500mm/s and acceleration hitting 20,000 mm/s², it’s pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in consumer-grade 3D printing. To put that in perspective, according to Elegoo’s lab tests, users can print a custom smartphone stand in just half an hour.

“The shift of 3D printing into the consumer space has only recently gained real momentum,” explains Chris Hong, Elegoo’s CEO. “With the Centauri Carbon, we’re aiming to break down the remaining barriers to creativity.”

But speed isn’t everything in the world of 3D printing. The Centauri Carbon comes equipped with a powerful 1000W AC heated bed (at 220V) and supports a wide range of materials, including PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, ASA, and carbon-fiber-infused filaments. The nozzle can get up to 320°C, allowing you to tackle more demanding projects.

One of the most significant pain points in 3D printing has always been bed leveling. The Centauri Carbon tackles this head-on with an automatic bed leveling system powered by four pressure sensors and a proprietary algorithm. Gone are the days of manual calibration – users can achieve a perfect first layer with a single click.

The printer supports ELEGOO OS with modern touch including Wi-Fi connection, a 4.3-inch screen and a built-in camera for time-lapse recording. For the technically inclined, the printer’s software is based on the open-source Orca Slicer, allowing for community modifications and improvements.

Pre-orders are now live across multiple regions, with the US price point set at $299.99. This positioning is particularly aggressive for a Core-XY printer with these specifications, potentially disrupting the market’s current pricing structure.

The Centauri Carbon represents Elegoo’s evolution from its manufacturing roots in Shenzhen. With the company’s 2024 sales exceeding 200 million USD and a growing global presence across 90 countries, this launch signals their serious commitment to advancing consumer 3D printing technology.

Whether this printer lives up to its promises remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Elegoo is betting big on making advanced 3D printing technology more accessible to creators, makers, and professionals alike.
